About the Artists:

Pantula Rama  

Dr. Pantula Rama hails from a culturally abundant family of musicians, poets and astrologers. Dr.Rama had her initial training in music under her father Sri.Pantula Gopala Rao and continues to be the prime disciple of ‘Sangeeta Kalasagara’ Sri.Ivaturi Vijayeswara Rao. She enjoys the privilege of having the brilliant musician Sri.M.S.N.Murthy as her soul mate. Exhibiting prodigious talent, Rama gave her maiden concert at the age of 8. Dr.Pantula Rama is highly regarded for her chaste, aesthetic and intellectual style of singing. She is graded ‘A’ in vocal and ‘B-High’ in Violin & Viola by All India Radio. She holds a PhD in music from Andhra University. Her doctoral thesis has been published by Gyan Publishers of New Delhi under the title – ‘Shaping of an ideal Carnatic Musician through Sadhana’. She has been honoured with the title ‘Gayatri Sangeeta Vidwanmani’. She is the recipient of many awards such as - ‘Outstanding Lady Vocalist’, ‘Best Pallavi Award’ from The Music Academy, Madras and ‘Ragam Tanam Pallavi Award’ – Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana Festival. She has been performing all over India and countries like Singapore, Thailand and USA. She is also a Reiki Master in the traditional Usui system of natural healing.

M S N Murthy


Mutnuri Srinivasa Narasimha Murthy (M.S.N.) Murthy Hails from a music family. Mother Smt. Mutnuri Jalajakshi is a veteran vocalist. He is a Disciple of ‘Sangeeta Sahitya Kalanidhi’ Sriman N.Ch.Krishnamacharyulu. M.S.N.Murthy started performing at an early age of ten.  He was exempted in age and selected as a casual artiste by All India Radio at 14. He has been winning high degree of appreciation from listeners for his purity of style, fine aesthetic sense and command over the instrument. He has been awarded ‘Top Grade’ in Violin, ‘A Grade’ in Vocal & ‘A Grade’ in Viola by All India Radio. He served All India Radio for 20 years as Staff Artist (Violin) and opted for voluntary retirement. He has participated in many National Programmes of Music, Sangeet Sammelan Concerts and Jugalbandi concerts of All India Radio & Doordarshan.

T Murugaboopathi

Tanjore K.Murugaboopathi belongs to a family of artists and musicians. He is hailed as one of India’s brightest stars and best percussionists in the world of South Indian Carnatic music. One of the hallmarks of his playing is his unique ability adapt his playing to any style of singing or instrumental music. This has won him huge appreciation and a large following among both artists and audiences alike. He had his initial training under Prof.T.R.Srinivasan in the Tamilnadu Government Music College. After receiving the 'Vadhya
Visharada' with distinction from the Music College, he came under the guidance of the great Mridangam Maestro Tanjore Upendran. He has won numerous awards for his work from organizations in India and abroad including the Best Artist award from the prestigious Music Academy Chennai India and Sivan Manram Sydney, Australia. He is featured on hundreds of DVDs and CD’s being a favorite artist of choice for all the leading lights of Indian music including Madurai T.N. Seshagopalan, Sanjay Subramaniam, Sudha Ragunatha and Aruna Sayeeram (vocals) Dr. N.Ramani and Shashank (Flute), U.Srinivas (Mandolin) among others across the globe.

The Recital Hall is located just behind the O’Shaughnessy Auditorium  in the campus of St. Catherine University (2004 Randolph Ave, Saint Paul, MN 55105). The Recital Hall is Building 24 in the campus map (see below).

Driving Directions: 

  • From I-94 going E: Take Cretin Avenue exit. South (right) on Cretin to Randolph Avenue. East (left) on Randolph to Cleveland Avenue intersection. Stay on Randolph. Enter at GATE 3 on Randolph.
  • From I-94 going W: Take Snelling Avenue (US 51) exit. South (left) on Snelling Avenue to Randolph. West (right) on Randoplh to Fairview/Randolph intersection. Stay on Randolph. Enter at GATE 3 on Randolph.
  • From I-35E: Exit on Randolph Avenue. Proceed West to Fairview/Randolph intersection. Stay on Randolph. Enter at GATE 3 on Randolph.
  • From I-35W: Exit on 94 eastbound to Cretin Avenue exit. South on Cretin to Randolph Avenue. East on Randolph to Cleveland Avenue intersection. Stay on Randolph. Enter at GATE 3 on Randolph.

Gate 3 is located between Cleveland and Fairview and is nearest to the intersection of Randolph and Prior Avenues. The Recital Hall is located right behind the better known O'Shaughnessy auditorium. Parking is free after hours and on weekends.
