About the
Artists:
V K Manimaran
V
K
Manimaran hails from
the most illustrious Nadaswaram Paramparai (a
stylistic tradition of
Nadaswaram (ancient reed instrument)) of Tamil
Nadu. His grandfather is
Maestro Kulikkarai Pichayappa Pillai, his
maternal uncle Shri
Kulikkarai Viswalingam Pillai. Shri. Viswalingam
is his first guru
too. Starting his tutelage from the age of
5, under his
uncle, V K Manimaran started his stage
performances right from the age
of 10. Appearing in all major performance stages
in Tamil Nadu, V K
Manimaran pursued professional classical music
by acquiring a Masters
Degree in Indian Music form the Madras
University. During this period,
he happened to be the favourite student of many
illustrious Gurus like
Smt Suguna Purushothaman, Smt Rukmini Ramani and
Shri Rajam Iyer.
Simulatneously, his advanced training continued
under the great guru
Calcutta Shri Krishnamaurthy for several years.
Endowed with a robust voice, soaked in
aesthetics, and uncompromising
classicism, with a wide repertoire of various
composers and works, V K
Manimaran, has carved a niche for himself with
his individual
qualities. V K Manimaran, has completed over
twenty years of great
stage performances. Some of his excellent
appearances and award winning
performances include RR Sabha, Trichy
(Awarded Title
'Sangeetha Sree'); The Music Academy, Chennai;
Naradha Gaana Sabha,
CHENNAI; Shanmukhananda Sabha, Mumbai; Indian
Fine Arts, CHENNAI;
Trivandrum Music Circle Kerala and Swathi
Thirunaal Sangeetha Sammelan,
Kerala.
Overseas, he has performed at several cities
across Europe, USA and
Australia including such prestigious venues and

Ranjani Ramakrishnan
Ranjani
Ramakrishnan is a young, highly sought after
violinist. Ranjani was trained in
violin by her mother Smt. Seetha
Ramakrishnan.
She
was the winner of the All India
Radio competition in 1995 and is currently a
grade 'A' artist with AIR and
Doordarshan. Ranjani has also received
vocal training from Smt. Latha Ramchand of
Chennai.
She has accompanied eminent and senior
vidwans like Shri. R.K. Shrikantan,
Shri. O.S. Thiagarajan & Chitravina
Shri. N. Ravikiran to name a few. She
regularly performs with dancer Padmashri
Alarmel Valli for her shows in India
and abroad.
She has given artistic inputs to movies
based on Classical Music and has
featured in numerous Carnatic-Hindustani
jugalbandis and fusion concerts. She
was highly acclaimed for her work as Music
Co-ordinator in the movie ''Morning
Raga'', starring Shabana Azmi. Apart from
providing vocal and violin
expressions to the movie and training the
actors in the Classical Carnatic
style, she also acted the cameo role of a
violin artist.
Tanjore K Murugaboopathi
Tanjore K
Murugaboopathi belongs to a family of artists
and musicians. He is
hailed as one of India’s brightest stars and
best
percussionists in the world of South Indian
Carnatic music. One of the
hallmarks of his playing is his unique ability
adapt his playing to any
style of singing or instrumental music. This has
won him huge
appreciation and a large following among both
artists and audiences
alike. He had his initial training under
Prof.T.R.Srinivasan in the
Tamilnadu Government Music College.
After receiving the 'Vadhya Visharada' with
distinction from the Music
College, he came under the guidance of the great
Mridangam Maestro
Tanjore Upendran. He has won numerous awards for
his work from
organizations in India and abroad including the
Best Artist award from
the prestigious Music Academy Chennai India and
Sivan Manram Sydney,
Australia.
He is featured on hundreds of DVDs and CD’s
being a favorite
artist of choice for all the leading lights of
Indian music including
Madurai T.N. Seshagopalan, Sanjay Subramaniam,
Sudha Ragunatha and
Aruna Sayeeram (vocals) Dr. N.Ramani and
Shashank (Flute), U.Srinivas
(Mandolin) among others across the globe.
He has travelled to countries like Singapore,
Malayasia, Sultanate of
Oman (Muscat), Germany, France, England to name
a few. He has
also been regularly traveling to USA and Canada
for teaching
assignments and concerts.
