Gayathri Venkataraghavan
Smt.
Gayathri Venkataraghavan,began her training in
carnatic music at a young age under
the tutelage of
Smt.Rajalakshmi and then under
Smt. Padma Veeraraghavan, a
disciple of Palaghat
Sri.K.V.Narayanaswamy. She was also
trained in various Kritis by Smt. Rukmini
Ramani, Sri.V.Subramaniam and
Smt.Lakshmi Natarajan. Her advanced training was
under Acharya Choodamani Late
Sri.A.Sundaresan. Gayathri is presently
under the guidance of Padma Bhushan Sri.
P.S.Narayanaswamy.
At a young age as Gayathri Ramani, she has won a
number of prizes in inter-school and
Inter-college competitions and also in
competitions held by Music Academy, Indian Fine
Arts Society, Mylapore Fine Arts, Saraswathi
Vageeyakara Trust etc.
Gayathri Venkataraghavan is an ‘A’ grade
accredited artiste of All India Radio. She
won the All India Radio
National level competition in
1993. Her regular performances for the A I
R include a prestigious National Broadcast in
2006.She has sung various themes for Archival
purposes for the AIR. She has performed
for Doordarshan national and regional telecasts,
and for various other television channels. She
has had the honour of
anchoring a documentary
feature “Engum Nirai
Nada Bhrahmam” a tribute
to the immortal icon
of Carnatic music Bharath Ratna
Smt.M.S.Subbulakshmi for Doordarshan.
The concert prizes that she has won at the
Music Academy conference, include The
D.K.Pattammal award for Lady vocalist in
2001, T.T.Rangaswamy award in 2002,
H.Natarajan Prize 2003 and 2004 , The
Pappu Kamakshi Award in 2006 and the Award for
Swara singing during 2007. In
2003 she was awarded the Kalki
Krishnamoorthy award and in the same year
she was given the Nada Oli title by Nada
Inbam, Madras. She was awarded the SIMANA
award instituted by The Carnatic Music
Association of North America, Inc.NJ
(USA) Dr.MLV Endowment by Narada Gana
Sabha 2006. She has been awarded the
Shanmuka Sangita Shironmani title by Sri
Shanmukhananda Fine Arts and Sangeetha
Sabha, Mumbai and the Isai Peroli
title by The Karthik Fine Arts Chennai.
She has been performing regularly at various
centres in India. Her performances abroad
include ones at the Cleveland Thyagaraja
Festival 2005 and 2008 at Ohio State, USA and
Toronto in Canada. She also performed at the
SIFA annual festival at Singapore in Feb 2007.
She has also toured the United States and Canada
extensively for a concert tour in September and
October 2007. A number of her Commercial
albums have been released by Charsur Digital
Work Station and other companies.
Mysore V Srikanth
Srikanth is a senior disciple of Vidwan Sri.H.K.
Narasimhamurthy of Mysore. He started learning
Violin at a very young age and has undergone
rigorous training for more than twenty years.
Srikanth Venkataraman has been giving
performances from his fifteenth year.
Srikanth has gained rich experience by
accompanying top artists like R.K.Srikantan, Dr.
M Balamuralikrishna, T N Sesagopalan, T V
Sankaranarayanan etc. He has also provided
accompaniment to young artists like Abhishek
Raghuram, T V Ramprasadh, Gayathri Girish
etc. Srikanth has been featured in all
prestigious music sabhas &
organizations. He is graded artist of AIR
and Doordarshan. He has recorded many
commercial CDs & cassettes with many great
artists.
Srikanth has won a number of awards, accolades
and appreciation from rasikas and critics. He is
a recipient of Cultural Talent Search
Scholarship of Government of India and achieved
Distinction in the Senior Grade Music
Examination. He was adjudged as Best
Violinist by Krishna Gana Sabha, Indian Fine
Arts Society, Karnataka Gana Kala Parishath,
Music Academy etc. He has been conferred
with the title "Kala Praveena", "Ananya Yuva
Puruskara" by "Ananya" of Bangalore - the
prestigious Award for talented young musicians.
Srikanth has traveled abroad widely including
USA, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Sri Lanka,
Malaysia & Zambia.
Tanjore Sri K Murugaboopathi
Tanjore Sri K Murugaboopathi belongs to a family
of artists and musicians.
He had his initial
training under Sri
T.R.Srinivasan, a Mridangam
Vidwan and Lecturer in the Tamilnadu
Government Music College. After receiving
the 'Vadhya Visharada' with distinction from the
Music College, he came under the guidance of
Late Sri Tanjore Upendran. He learnt from
the late maestro in the age old tradition of
Gurukulavasam.
Sri Murugaboopathi has won numerous awards
including the Vadya Kalaimani from the
Music College, Chennai,
the Laya Kala Ratna
from the Tiruppur Murugan
Mandram, the Best
Artiste Award from the
South Indian Music Club,
Andhra Pradesh, the Music Academy and the Sivan
Mandram, Sydney, Australia.
Murugaboopathi can adapt his playing to any
style of singing or instrumental music and
has won the appreciation
of the artists as
well as the
rasikas. With his
uncompromising orthodox style
of playing he gracefully
blends the best of the
Pazhani Subramania Pillai and the Palghat Mani
Iyer schools making him one of the most sought
after mridangam players today.
Boopathi as he is fondly
known with his
contemporaries, regularly
accompanies leading artists such as Sangeetha
Kalnidhis Shri Madurai T.N. Seshagopalan, Dr. N.
Ramani, Shri T V
Sankaranarayan, the Hyderabad
Brothers, Mandolin Srinivas, Sudha
Ragunathan, and other contemporary artists such
as Sanjay Subramaniam, T M Krishna, Bombay
Jayashri and Aruna Sayeeram to name a few.
Within India, he has performed in various venues
in most metros including New Delhi, Kolkata,
Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram
and across Tamil Nadu. Internationally, he is
widely travelled on tour with the above reputed
artists in North America including USA and
Canada, in Europe including Great Britain,
Scotland, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Turkey, South
Africa, the Middle East at Dubai, Muscat, and
Doha, South East Asia in Singapore and Malaysia,
Australia and New Zealand.
