About the
Artists
Anahita & Apoorva Ravindran
Anahita Ravindran gave her
maiden concert at the age of 9 in Raga Sudha
Hall, Chennai. She has won several First
prizes as also Tanpura Prizes and was adjudged
Miss Voice by Carnatica - judged by many
eminent musical personalities. She was a
finalist in RAJ TV’s Ragam Sangeetham, Jaya
TV’s Carnatic Music IDOL and has given several
programs in various TV and FM Channels.
She was awarded ‘Best Performer’ by Krishna
Gana Sabha for 2 consecutive years, winning
the Musiri Subramanya Iyer and Voletti
Venkateswarulu Awards. She is the recipient of
first prize in Padam singing conducted by The
Music Academy. Having won the first prize in
All India Radio she has been graded as a B
Grade artist. Recently, Naad Bhed, a classical
music show conducted by SPIC MACAY and
Doordarshan, saw her bag a place among the top
3 in the country in Carnatic Music. Currently
she is the lead Vocalist for Dr. Vyjayantimala
Bali’s Dance programs.
Apoorva Ravindran gave her maiden concert when
she was only 8. Also being awarded the first
place in All India Radio and graded as a B
grade artiste, she has won Tanpura prize from
Mylapore Fine Arts and Super Singer award on
Dikshitar Krithis conducted by Muthuswamy
Dikshitar Trust. She participated in Tanishq
Swarna Sangeetham by Raj TV and was adjudged
the runner up after rigorous rounds of
selection on various parameters.
Both of them are recipients of Govt of
India scholarship for Carnatic music. While
Anahita is also proficient in Playing
Chitravina, Apoorva is a Violinist.
Recently they were adjudged the first
runner up for Times Thyagaraja Award and
released an Audio CD ‘Nalaya
Nakshatrangal’. Their CD, “Divine
Equations” was premiered at the the
Chicago World Festival. They are featured
faculty members of the International
Foundation for Carnatic music. They have
participated in the Cleveland Aradhana
and IFAASD Festival, San Diego and have
been the lead singers in many operatic Dance
dramas. Aside, they are involved in the
production of Audio and Video CDs and
publications by IFCM.Together and
individually, they have been giving concerts
in all the leading sabhas in Chennai,
Bangalore, Mumbai and other places in South
India as also performances in AIR,
Doordarshan, Jaya TV, Raj TV, Sankara TV, TTD
Channel and various other TV and FM channels.

Vishnudev Namboodiri
Vishnudev Namboothiri is a young
Carnatic vocalist who has been giving several
concert performances in various sabhas and temples
in India and the US since his debut concert at
Guruvayur Temple in the year 2002. Vishnudev
initially trained under Smt. Alli Harivishnu and
Smt. Kavitha Shibu. He has also recieved advanced
training from Sri.Chandramana Narayanan
Namboothiri and Sri.Neyveli Santhanagopalan, and
currently undergoes expert training with Sri.
P.S.Narayanaswamy.
Vishnudev is an accomplished and talented artist
with many accolades. He is an "A Grade" artist of
All India Radio, Trichur, Jaya TV Carnatic Music
Idol winner in 2012, 1st prize in All
India Radio Music Competition for Carnatic Music -
Vocal in 2003, 1st prize in the HCL Concert
Series Music Academy 2012, attained Kanchi
Kamakoti Asthana Vidwan in 2011, and much more.
His music has traditional beauty and is very
innovative at the same time.

Ramakrishnan
L. Ramakrishnan hails from a musical family and
was formally initiated into a musical odyssey by
his mother at the age of 2. He was trained in
vocal music for 8 years before beginning his
training Carnatic Violin under the able guidance
of Smt. Visalam Vageeswar at the Shanmukhananda
Vidyalaya, Mumbai.
He performed his first solo concert at the age of
12 at Shanmukhananda, Mumbai. He came under the
wings of the distinguished violin maestro
Kum.A.Kanyakumari at the age of 13. It was during
this phase that he learned the importance of vocal
orientation in instrument playing and the proper
enunciation of Sahitya.
Ramakrishnan has won several scholarships and
awards. He is a recipient of scholarship
from Shanmukhananda Fine Arts & Sangeeta Sabha
for seven years. In the year 2000, he won
the First Prize at a National level contest
organized by All India Radio. Among other
awards he has won include Pandit Paluskar award
(Sharada Sangeetha Vidyalaya, Mumbai), ‘Best
Violinist’ (Krishna Gana Sabha, 2005) Best
Violinist Sub-senior slot (The Music Academy
2006), Best Violinist Sub-senior slot
(Parthasarathy Swami Gana Sabha 2016). He
has also been awarded the 'Nadabhooshanam' award
by Nadopasana in 2004.
He has performed with Kanyakumari in her grand
musical ensembles on numerous occasions. He has
done additional training under Shri. T.K. Govinda
Rao and Smt. T.R. Balamani. He has
accompanied several senior artists such as
Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri. T.V. Gopalakrishnan,
Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri. T.V. Sankaranarayanan,
Bombay Sisters Sangeetha Kalanidhi Smt. Saroja and
Sangeetha Kalanidhi Smt. Lalitha, Sri. T.M.
Krishna, Smt. Bombay Jaishree, Smt. Ranjani and
Smt. Gayatri among many others. Performed with
several leading upcoming artists such as Sri.
Abhishek Raghuram, Ramakrishnan Murthy, Kunnakudi
Sri. Balamuralikrishna, Trichur Brothers, Sandeep
Narayan to name a few. He has been featured
in various television channels like Sun TV, Jaya
TV(including their Magazhi Mahotsavam), Vijay TV,
Sankara TV, Zee Tamil, and Pudhiya Thalaimurai.
Trivandrum V Balaji
Born in the year 1974, to Mr. R.
Veeraraghavan and Mrs. Janaki,
Trivandrum.V.Balaji hails from a musical
family. His great grand fathers being Kodivayal
Venkatrama Iyer known for his Harikatha and
Konnakoll. S.V.Iyer.
Trivandrm.V.Balaji has established
himself as one of the most sought-after
Mridangists of our times with a high
reputation. Balaji, had his initial training
under late Sri B. Doraiswamy of Trivandrum, Sri
K.Krishna Iyengar of Trivandrum, Trivandrum Sri R.
Vaidyanathan and later had his tutelage under the
legendary Vidwan Padmasri Sangeetha
Kalanidhi Palghat.R.Raghu.
He has the privilege of accompanying various
leading stars in the Carnatic Music like,
Sangeetha Kalanidhi Dr.N.Ramani, Sri
T.V.Sakaranarayanan, Sri.O.S.Thyagarajan and
others. He is presently an ‘A’ Grade artist in The
All India Radio, Chennai. Apart from
accompanying Carnatic artists, he is also a much
sought-after Mridangist in the Cinema Industry and
has worked with famous music directors like Mr.
Vidyasagar, Mr. Deva, Mr. Haris Jayaraj and
others.

He has received awards from various prestigious

This year The Kanchi Kamakoti matam has conferred
THE ASTHANA VIDWAN TITLE on Balaji. The All India
Radio (1995),The Madras Music Academy best
mridngist(2004,2009,2010) The Chembai Young
Musician award (2004), Maharajapuram Viswanatha
Iyer trust award (2007), to name a few. He won the
NTSC scholarship organized by The Government of
India in the year 1995.
Trivandrum.V.Balaji commands high respect
for his dexterity in technique and his uncanny
command over the instrument and the underlying
intricacies of Rhythm (Laya), which have won him
high praise and laurels. His Mridangam artistry is
embellished by the virtues that stem from
temperament, poise and fine musical awareness. He
has a distinct style of his own. Balaji’s
solo renderings and accompaniment bear the stamp
of his master’s dignified technique, very keenly
appreciated by enlightened audience, both home and
abroad.
During Fall 2003, Fall 2005 and Spring 2008 Spring
2009, on his concert tour to the US, UK and
Australia, his fluent expressions coupled with the
mastery over the Mridangam enabled him to project
to the Western world the perfect magical, divine
value addition the instrument does to Music and
hence the richness it creates. Had a unique
opportunity to visit Jordan festival on 2009 as
part of ICCR ,GOVT OF INDIA. He strongly believes
that ‘Learning never stops’ nor is it bound by
barriers such as age, geographies or cultures. It
is this belief and true dedication that he has
towards Music that keeps him self-motivated to
explore and master areas of Carnatic Music through
its depth and vastness mainly in the Laya (Rhythm)
section through dedicated research and sheer
hard-work. He has gained immense experience
imparting training to interested young learners.
At present, Balaji is training lot of keen
students in India, as well as in USA and
Australia.
