About the
Artists
Omkar Dadarkar
Born in Mumbai on 30 th July 1977,Omkar Dadarkar
was enthused by his parents, both being Marathi
Natya-Sangeet performer and took his initial
training under Dr. Ram Deshpande and received
scholarship
from C.C.R.T.(New Delhi). As the nephew
and shishya of the legendary vocalist
Padmashree Manik Verma, Omkar was fortunate
enough to get taleem from her. After that he
took training from Pt.Yashwantbua Joshi of
Gwalior Gharana under the Guru-shishya Parampara
scheme of Dadar-Matunga Cultural Centre. Being
selected as scholar in I.T.C. Sangeet Research
Academy in 1999, he had undergone a rigorous
training under the tutelage of guru Pt.Ulhas
Kashalkar. He successfully completed his six
years training in the Academy with A+ grade.
He got his training of light classical form
under Vidushi Girijadevi and Srinivas khale. He
also completed Sangeet Alankar from Gandharv
Mahavidyalaya and graduated in Marathi lit.and
History. Omkar’s performances in all over India
and Abroad like USA,UK,Canada Bangladesh
& Nepal were highly applauded.
He received the prestigious Vidyasagar Award
from Music Forum. Omkar is recognized as
promising upcoming talent and won prestigious
“Shanmukhananda Hall-Mumbai-Sangeet Shiromani”
award while is the first recipient of
“Chaturanga Sangeet Shishyavrutti Award” given
by Chaturanga Pratishthan in collaboration with
Mhaiskar Foundation,Mumbai. Omkar was awarded by
Sangeet Natak Academy New Delhi,Govt.Of
India.Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar 2009.
Now he is working with I.T.C.Sangeet Research
Academy Kolkata as a Guru.
Milind Kulkarni
Milind’s tryst with Harmonium started at the
tender age of seven. Over a period of time,
under the gentle guidance of his teacher and his
own efforts has enabled him to reach a state of
exceptional caliber. Milind is today a reputed
accompanist and fast emerging as a
soloist. His father, an avid music lover
recognized the inborn talent of young
Milind. Pt. Vasantrao Gurav of Sangli was
the first. formal Guru who introduced
Milind. Pt. Anna Diwan of Sangli further
enriched his talents. Currently he is
under the tutelage of Pt. Pramod Marathe,
leading Harmonium player and Principal at the
Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Pune. Milind earned his
B.A. in Music, specializing in Harmonium at
Centre for Performing Arts, Pune
University, He is pursuing is MA degree at
Shivaji University, Kolhapur
Milind’s harmonium playing has tremendous
energy, precision and aesthetics. He is a rare
harmonium player who understands the finer
points of music. This makes his playing
perfectly suitable for all types of singing be
it classical or light music. Milind has
accompanied renowned Musicians of India like Pt.
Jasraj, Pt. Prabha Atre, Pt. Suresh Talwalkar,
Dr. Veena Sahastrabuddhe, Pt. Anindo Chatterjee
, Smt Koushiki Chakraborty. Pt. Kumar Bose,
Shri. Sanjeev Abhyankar, Smt. Padma Talwalkar,
Dr. Prabha Atre, Dr. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande,
Pt. Ullhas Kashalkar, Pt.Sanjeev Abhyankar, Pt.
Swapan Chaudhari, Pt. Ajay Chakrabarty, Smt.
Arati Ankalikar, Smt. Kalapini Komkali, Smt.
Aarti Ankalikar-Tikekar, Smt. Devaki Pandit,
Shri Shounak Abhisheki, Pt.Yogesh Samsi, Pt.
Prabhakar Karekar, Shri. Ramdas Palsule,
Shri.Vijay Ghate etc. He is greaded artist of
AIR. Performed in a verious festivals such
as Dowerlane festival, kolkata; Sawai Gandharva
festival, Pune; Baba Haravallabh Samaroha ,
Jalandhar; Tansen festival, Gwalior;
Baba Allauddin Khan Festival, Maihar.
Overseas, he has performed in USA, Canada, New
Zealand, Fiji, Singapore, Australia, Sri Lanka,
Switzerland etc. He has also performed at
Darbar Festival in London.
Milind has been honored for his achievements by
several organizations. These include
Business Express “Kalashree” (2002), Leelatai
Jalgaonkar Award (2003), Pt Rambhau Bijapure
Yuva Samvadini Vadak Award (2008) and
Kalabhushan Puruskar by India Talent Search
Academy.
Sanjay Deshpande
Sanjay Deshpande is a talented Tabla Player based
in Pune, India. He was born in a music loving
family and was introduced to the art of playing
Tabla under Late Pt. Sabade at Pune Bharat Gayan
Samaj. Later he took Taleem (lessons) from the
renowned Tabla player Pt. Suresh Talwalkar of
Delhi-Farookabad Gharana, in a Guru Shishya
Parampara . He also had the privilege of
understanding the beauty of Punjab Gharana under
the guidance of world renowned Tabla maestro
Ustad. Alla Rakha Khan Saheb. At present he is
taking guidance from Shri. Yogesh Samsi and Pt.
Vivek Joshi.
Sanjay is recipient of the coveted “Ahmedjaan
Thirakwaa Scholarship” for Solo Performance.
He has accompanied renowned artists like Smt.
Vasundhara Komkali, Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar, Pt.
Smt. Malini Rajurkar, Pt. Jasraj, Dr. Prabha
Atre, Pt. Dinkar Kaikini, Dr. Ashwini
Bhide-Deshpande , Smt. Veena Sahastrabudhe and
many such great artists.
He has performed in major conferences such as
Sawai Gandharwa Music Festival Pune, Paluskar
Smarak Conference, Shankarlal Samaroha in New
Delhi, I.T.C. Sangeet Sammelan . Dowerlane
Conference, Kolkata. Sanjay has performed
abroad in Countries like U.S.A, U.K, U.A.E,
Canada, Australia, Switzerland, Russia, Holland,
Qatar, Sri Lanka, South Korea etc. He has
also participated in the “World Vocal
Festival” in Sweden. He is empanelled as GURU at
the Lalit Kala Kendra, University of Pune. He has
number of recordings released. His fusion album
“Wind From Ayuta” with Korean musicians won the
Best album award of the year - 2002 in South
Korea.
