the Artists
Vasudha
Ravi (Carnatic Vocal)
A prominent vocalist in the field of
Carnatic Music, Vasudha Ravi has been a
disciple of Dr (Mrs) Manjula Sriram for
over two decades. She also briefly
learnt from Vidwan A Sundaresan.
Vasudha Ravi holds a dual Masers degree in
Music and HR. She is an A grade
artiste in All India Radio.
Vasudha Ravi has performed at Musica
Sacra International Music
Festival,Makartoberdorf, Germany, Les Sacrees
Journees International Music
Festival,Strasbourg,France.Performed
Carnatic Vocal with the Beverian
Youth Jazz Band–Lades Jugend Jazz
Orchestra of Germany. Besides
India, she has presented traditional Carmatic Music
across the globe including
countries like Dhaka,
Singapore, Myanmar,
Muscat, Germany, France,
and Jordan.
As a composer, she has composed music
for thematic dance presentations with
Padmashri Malavika Sarukkai, Padmashri
Alarmel Valli, and Priya Govind.
She has worked on musical productions
with Maestro Ilayaraja, and Sri
Rajkumar Bharati

Narmadha (Violin)
Dr. M. Narmadha is an Indian violinist in the
Carnatic and Hindustani traditions.
Narmadha is the daughter of violinist M S
Gopalakrishnan. She trained with her
grandfather, Parur A. Sundaram Iyer, and later,
her father. She achieved a doctoral degree from
Delhi University as a U. G. C. fellow under
sitar-player Prof. Debu Chowdhari and musicologist
Dr. K. G. Ginde. Her doctoral thesis compares
North and South Indian music styles.
Born into a family of Renowned, accomplished and
popular musicians, Dr M Narmadha is the third
genre of Parur-MSG tradition with formal training
from her grandfather Shri Parur A Sundaram Iyer
from the age of four, father Padmashri and
PadmaBhushan Awardee M.S. Gopalakrishnan and
mother Smt. Meenakshi Goplakrishnan with the rare
privilege of learning both Carnatic and Hindustani
systems simultaneously from her father in violin
and from her mother Smt.Meenakshi Gopalakrishnan
and Sangitha Kalanidhi Shri T.M.Tyagarajan in
vocal and has since proved her mettle in both
styles.
A career gold medalist, top grade artiste of All
IndiaRadio, Narmadha won her Doctorate from Delhi
University as a Senior U.G.C fellow for her unique
thesis on Comparative study of Raagas of
IndianMusic later published as a book titled.
‘IndianMusic and Sancara in Raagas’ under the
guidance of Sitar maestro Prof. Debu Chaudhuri and
vocalist Dr.K.G.Ginde
Narmadha had performed violin duets with her
father (late) PadmaBhushan M.S.Gopalakrishnan for
many years. Not only she is a most sought after
violin soloist, she accompanies leading Carnatic
vocalists and has 45 years of service to Indian
Music with around 7000 concerts. She performs
vocal concerts, having been vocally trained by her
mother and Shri. T. M. Tyagarajan. She has toured
all over the world including USA, UK, Holland,
South Africa, Australia, Singapore, Spain,
Malaysia, Hongkong etc. She was awarded the Best
Violinist award by the Music Academy, Madras,
eight times consecutively.
Narmadha the most sought after soloist in Violin
in both Karnatak and Hindustani traditions of
presentation, having performed more than 6000
concerts is a unique soloist, accompanist and has
played violin duets with her father Shri
M.S.Gopalakrishnan, She has also presented
Jugalbandi concerts in Hindustani and Karnatak
styles and has widely performed in India and
abroad and also released CDs in both styles of
Indian music.
Narmadha has won several awards for career
excellence in performance and Lecture
Demonstrations. In recognition of her contribution
to Indian Classical Violin Music. She was
conferred, Kalaimamani ‘by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu
for excellence in violin, Shanmukhananda Sangeeta
Shiromani by the Shanmukhananda Sangeeta Sabha,
Mumbai, Yami Award for the Best Accomplished
Violinist by Music Today Group, Mumbai and
Shantidoot Award, from Mahamountirth Ashram
Ujjain,Vadya Bharati from Bharatam,
Trissur,Bhavans Award for Excellence in Violin
from the Chief Justice of India Mr.Sadasivam, from
Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan, Tantri Vadya Visharada,
San Francisco.

Delhi
Sri Sairam is a disciple of Mridangam Maestro
Kalaimamani Dr. Thiruvarur Sri Bakthavatsalam.
He is a post graduate First Rank holder in
Rhythmology from the University of Madras.
He has also won several awards like the
‘Kalaimamani’ by the government of TamilNadu,
‘Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar’ from the
Sangeet Natak Akademi, ‘Yuva Kala Bharathi’
from Bharat Kalachar, ‘Best senior mridangist’
award from The Music Academy, Chennai, ‘Laya
Lavanya Trust Award’ from Padmabhushan
Umayalapuram Sri Sivaraman to name a few.
His energetic yet sensitive style of
accompanying vocalists and instrumentalist
alike has won him critical acclaim all over
India and abroad. During the past 20 yrs he
has given nearly 2000 performances
accompanying eminent senior artists and
promising and upcoming musicians. He has
accompanied veterans like Flute Ramani,
T.V.Sankaranarayanan, Bombay Jayashri Ramnath,
Ranjani Gayathri, Sudha Raghunathan and many
senior artists.
He has toured the US, Canada, Europe,
Australia, Abu Dhabi with several artists and
performed at prestigious international
festivals and venues. He has had the good
fortune of sharing stage alongside his guru on
a few occasions, one such being the Guru
Shishya Parampara series under the auspices of
the Delhi international arts festival, India
international Center. He has been part of
various jugalbandhis and rhythmic ensemble
concerts. He is a visiting faculty of the
Kalaikovil Academy of Fine Arts in Toronto,
Canada for the past 11 years. He has the
credit of training several students for their
arangetram (maiden performance) and further.
Madipakkam Murali (Ghatam)
Guruprasad
is the son of ghatam vidwan Shri K. Nagaraja Rao
and Smt Kallammal. He had his initial training
under his father and later underwent gurukulam
under ghatam maestro Shri T.H. Vikku
Vinayakram. Subsequently he received
training from ghatam vidwan Shri V. Suresh, and
mrudangam vidwan “Laya Chudaroli” Madurai Shri T.
Srinivasan.
He regularly accompanies the senior most artists
in the field of Carnatic Music, and is highly
sought after in the film industry as well as for
collaborations with world renowned artists of
various genres. Guruprasad has had the
privilege of playing alongside stalwarts of
percussion such as Shri Palghat Raghu, Shri T.K.
Moorthy, Shri Vellore Ramabhadhran, Shri
Umayalpuram K Sivaraman, Shri Karaikudi Mani, Shri
Trichy Sankaran, Shri Haridwarmangalam A.K.
Palanivel, Shri Kaliyamoorthy, and Shri Thanjavur
Govindarajan, to name a few.
He is honored to have performed in esteemed global
venues such as The Kennedy Center in Washington
D.C., The Lincoln Center in New York City, the
“Incredible India” festival at The Oval Cricket
Ground in London, and along with the Johannesburg
Philharmonic Orchestra in South Africa.
Guruprasad has been bestowed with numerous awards
and titles, some of which include the Bismillah
Khan Yuva Puraskar from Sangeet Natak Akademi -New
Delhi, the title of “Aasthaana Vidwan” of Kanchi
Kamakoti Mutt -Kanchipuram, and the Kalki
Krishnamurthy award in Chennai. Guruprasad
continues to perform around the world, and is now
training many ghatam artists of the next
generation.
